Christ follower or Comfort follower?

1 Peter 2:21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

To many, it appears that we live in an unjust society. Good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.
Perhaps, in 2015, situations defined you. When good things happened you were easy to live with. When bad things happened you were.....well, you know how you were!

Being in a bad situation is not an excuse for bad conduct. We, followers of Christ, have the power of Christ living in us and that should make a difference for Christians to live at a higher level than the "world" around us.

BRIEF NOTES about living in an unjust world:

1. There will be much injustice in this world and we need to get used to that fact!
-Upon accepting an award, the late Jack Benny once remarked, “I really don’t deserve this. But I have arthritis, and I don’t deserve that either.”

In life we get some things we don't deserve and some we do deserve. The whole idea is to live for Christ, act like Christ would and follow His example no matter what life offers us.

Talk about injustice!! Watch this video:

2. Be Submissive, Be Respectful and Be Enduring to those over you and to the problems you face.

-Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”

ILL.- Someone asked C.S. Lewis, "Why do the righteous suffer?" "Why not?" he replied. "They’re the ones who should be able to take it!”

Once again, we, as believers should be able to face persecution and pain from others in a different way than those without God's grace living through them.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
  • It is more important that Christ’s followers be people of integrity than people who live well.
  • It is more important that God’s people display God’s grace than people who demand their rights.
  • It is more important that Christians are known for their grace and patience than for their success and business skills.
  • It is more important that Jesus Christ be lifted up than for me to get out of a bad situation.
