Turn to God? But I Have a Smart Phone...
My faith in humanity has been restored! I really thought that we didn't have a reasonable voice in the world anymore. I really thought that we were just going to float on into eternity and possibly this age has come to an end without anyone with some national clout stepping up to the plate and giving a divine prescription for a cure.
Here is some of what Dr. Alveda King said this weekend:
Dr. Alveda King appeared on Cavuto on the Fox network to promote her recent book, titled “King Rules.” She also discussed the lack of spirituality and devotion to God in our nation’s leadership. “I’m 64 years old and in America, ‘One Nation under God’ and ‘In God we trust,’ she said. “Have we been perfect? No. Do we have our problems? Yes. But then to have the leader of our country at one point say, ‘We are no longer a Christian nation’… Where is the righteous indignation?”
King discussed the importance of devotion to God in handling not only terror groups like ISIS but in also dealing with the race riots in Ferguson, Missouri. “I believe if you have God-fearing leaders in place they are going to get the wisdom that’s required,” she commented.
“President Obama, call on the leaders of prayer in this nation. Bring us back to God,” she implored.

In a nutshell, she was saying that there are things that are STARTING to happen in our world that our technology cannot fix. A new app on our smart phone more than likely will not take care of a potential ebola crisis.
A new computer program may not take care of the all the ISIS terrorists that may or may not be crawling around on the streets of America....
That's just the way it is and that is just the way it has to be. There are some things that are left to God. Only God and His wisdom can fix or cure some things. Ms. King emphasized prayer. Talking to God. Pleading with Him to come and rain His presence on us again. I really think it is about time that God speaks in a very clear voice to this world as we know it. How much more can He stand of our waywardness? By the way, this is His world.
I want to do His will and be a team player for the Creator of heaven and earth. How will He do it? Your guess is as good as mine but I am praying that your faith will rest and trust in Him.
What Ms. King said may sound pretty simple but at least it is a start!
I close this with a pretty heavy piece of scripture that explains what we have to look forward to when God is finished with this age:
A New Heaven and a New Earth
Revelation 21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Until next time, be blessed!

Good for her.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why the President said this, and perhaps he shouldn't have, or shouldn't have thought it, or, as Ms. King suggests, should be leading us in the other direction. However, based on church attendance figures, we don't seem to be a Christian nation. Christians should pray and act so as to turn the nation around, regardless of what the President, Governors, etc., do or don't do.
Martin. I personally believe we are living in the times that the Apostle Paul spoke about to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:4--"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." However, we don't appear to be a Christian nation but this also plays right directly into the end times prophecy. Nevertheless, we are in bad times that only a turn to God can fix I believe. Thanks for responding
